Silica dust is extremely harmful when inhaled into your lungs as it is 100 times smaller than a grain of sand, making it that you could breath it in without you even knowing it. Long exposure to silica dust can result in the development of lung cancer, known as silicosis (an irreversible scarring and stiffening of the lungs). The best form of concrete dust control is through concrete wet cutting, involving a constant stream of water directed at the cutting surface preventing silica dust from becoming airborne.
